2018 Tasmanian State Election

The final 2018 State election result has confirmed a strong result for the Government to continue our work, and deliver our Plan to take Tasmania to the next level.

The Liberal Party received over 50 per cent of the state-wide primary vote – this represents less than one per cent difference compared to our result in 2014.

This is only the second time a Liberal Government has been re-elected in majority and I want to thank everyone involved, particularly my parliamentary colleagues and candidates, and the campaign team for all their hard work.

Hare Clark is an electoral system that has it’s vagaries and it is unfortunate that we have lost two seats, despite a similar vote in 2014 delivering 15 seats.

Joan Rylah and Nic Street have both been excellent local members and I pay tribute to their hard work and thank them for their contribution and service.

I now look forward to the Government being recommissioned next week so we can get on with the job of delivering our Plan, to take Tasmania to the next level.
