On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I congratulate all winners from the 2017 Tasmanian Theatre Awards announced at a gala event in Hobart last night.
Now in its third year, the Tasmanian Theatre Awards (The Errols) are a state wide celebration of the theatrical talent, diversity and successes of the Tasmanian performing arts sector.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of the performing arts in Tasmania and The Errols appropriately reflect the strength of the sector that creates thousands of jobs throughout the state.
Tasmania’s creative industries sector is an important part of our economy and increasingly of our critical visitor economy, and its importance will only grow with construction now started on the new centre for Creative Industries and Performing Arts, The Hedberg.
The Errols give us an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and passion that those in the performing arts sector put in to create great experiences for audiences. They also showcase some of the wonderful talent and creativity of Tasmanian performing artists.
