2016 Resilient Australia Awards

Tasmania’s emergency services do an amazing job protecting lives and property in the face of extreme and often challenging circumstances.

Today I was proud to present three Tasmanian recipients with 2016 Resilient Australia Awards.

The awards recognise initiatives and programs aimed at mitigating the effects of natural disasters, responsiveness, researching and educating to make our community disaster resilient in the interest of public safety.

This year Tasmania has experienced devastating summer bushfires and winter floods. The State and Federal Governments are committed to a whole-of-government approach to disaster management.

Congratulations to the three 2016 Tasmanian Resilient Australia Awards recipients for their dedication and innovation to keep Tasmanians and their properties safe from natural disasters.
