2015 Employer of Choice Awards

The Liberal Government is committed to supporting businesses and helping them to create jobs for Tasmanians.

This morning I launched the 2015 Employer of Choice Awards.

The Employer of Choice Awards are a great example of how government, businesses and the community can work together to create opportunities for all Tasmanians.

The Awards recognise businesses who demonstrate contemporary workplace practices and providing outstanding support for their staff.

To date Tasmania has recognised 56 Employers of Choice which collectively employ more than 11,000 people.

People with the right high quality skills are the key to increasing the productivity of our businesses and the wealth of our communities.

Past award winners say that they are able to attract the talented workers they need and retain them for the long term, because skilled people want to work for a great employer.

The Liberal Government is committed to supporting Tasmanians through initiatives such as the Think Local First Campaign, the New Market Expansion Program, the Small Business Jobs Bonus, the abolition of water and sewerage headworks charges and reform of the planning system.

Working for a great employer also makes staff more motivated, productive, and happier advocates of the business, and better able to build excellent relationships with customers, which is a critical element for business success.

Entries for the 2015 Employer of Choice Awards will be open from 22 August to 11 December 2014, with winners announced in mid-2015.
