The Hodgman Government’s number one priority is jobs.
ABS data released today shows that we are delivering, with a near all-time high of 245,900 jobs in Tasmania last month, 10,600 more than when we were elected in 2014.
We have put in place a number of policies to boost the economy and create jobs, including a $25 million package to help more younger Tasmanians join the workforce.
But there is more to do. That’s why we have set an ambitious target to have the lowest unemployment rate of any state by 2022.
We stand by our record on job creation.
Under the last Labor-Green Government the unemployment rate peaked at well over eight per cent and in the depths of the Labor-Green recession, 10,000 jobs were lost. It appears Labor has learnt nothing because the only jobs policy they have is to rip jobs out of pubs and clubs with their pokies ban.
