Tennis in the North of the State will receive a major boost through a $2 million investment to upgrade the Launceston Tennis Community and Events Centre.
This project has the capacity to deliver key benefits for Tasmania and the Launceston region - economically, socially, physically and mentally.
It includes new multi-purpose community spaces and provides the current world class playing facility with greater capacity to successfully attract and operate elite tennis events.
The Hodgman Liberal Government recognises that playing sport is key to establishing life-long healthy habits.
We have set a target to reduce Tasmania’s rate of obesity to below the national average by 2025.
Our Government is also committed to establishing new or improving sporting facilities and amenities for communities across the state.
We have allocated $2 million towards this project that will cost nearly $4 million, subject to federal and local government support.
