$2 million boost to community sector

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to assisting our most vulnerable Tasmanians.

This week, we have delivered a $2 million boost to community sector organisations that we know are so important in the lives of so many people.

The additional funding was paid to around 230 community sector organisations that every day provide about 440 vital on the ground services and support to disadvantaged Tasmanians, in every region of the State.

Together, these organisations are this year sharing in a record $255.28 million investment in the community services sector.

The second instalment of our $9 million election commitment to provide additional funding to the sector, the $2 million paid this week is on top of indexation payments to help organisations meet increasing operational expenses and demand for services.

The Government, meanwhile, is also moving to ensure that Tasmanians have ready access to information on discounts and concessions, with today’s release of the 2015-16 Tasmanian Government Discounts and Concessions Guide.

This year, the Government will provide around $300 million worth of concessions to Tasmanians.

The 2015-16 Tasmanian Government Discounts and Concessions Guide details the 88 concessions that help not only with the cost of living, but also assist Tasmanians to fully participate and be involved in community life.

The 2015-16 Tasmanian Government Discounts and Concessions Guide is available online at www.concessions.tas.gov.au
