The Minister for Education, Nick McKim, said that the Government has given no commitment to the Australian Education Union that the result of any ballot of its members on next year's term dates for colleges would be accepted by Government.

"The AEU is entitled to survey its members on any issue, but I will determine the term dates for next year, not the union," Mr McKim said.

"We will continue to work through the issue with the AEU as we have all along.

"2013 Term dates for years K -10 are resolved as previously announced and are on the Department of Education's website."
