The State Government has called for tenders for the $600,000 redevelopment of teaching kitchen facilities and two science laboratories at Rosny College in the state's south.

The Minister for Education and Skills, Nick McKim, said that an advertisement calling for tenders for the project was published in The Mercury Newspaper today (Saturday 1 September).

"The refurbishment of the domestic-style teaching kitchen includes the replacement of ceiling tiles, vinyl floor tiles and the clean-up of irregular wall surfaces," Mr McKim said.

"All joinery is to be replaced along with sinks and tapware. It includes the upgrade of all electrical wiring and lighting to current standards and it will install a mechanical extraction system.

"The refurbishment of the science labs includes new floor vinyl, painting and the replacement of all joinery, sinks and fume cupboards.

"The mechanical ventilation system is being upgraded and altered to suit the new layout, and the gas reticulation system is being brought up to current standards."

Mr McKim said that the $600,000 project was funded under the State Government's Capital Investment Program.

"The redevelopment will provide first-class facilities for Rosny College students as well as a flexible new work environment for teachers," Mr McKim said.

"We are anticipating that work will start on the redevelopment in November, outside of College activity, and is expected to be completed by February 2013."

A pre-tender briefing session will be held at the College in Bastick Street, Rosny on Monday 10 September at 2pm.

Tenders will close on Wednesday 19 September at 2pm.
