Teachers make a difference Fri 26 October 2012 Nick McKim Minister for Education and Skills The Minister for Education and Skills, Nick McKim, today paid tribute to Tasmanian teachers for the vital role they play in shaping the lives of young Tasmanians. Mr McKim said that World Teachers Day, which is being celebrated throughout Australia today, was an opportunity to thank teachers for inspiring and encouraging their students. "Teachers can change their students' lives for the better," Mr McKim said. "Everyone can remember the dedicated and exceptional teachers in their lives and the ones who have inspired them to continue their studies. "Every day teachers share their wisdom, time and skills with students. "Teachers can encourage and inspire others to make the most of what life has to offer. Much of this often goes unnoticed. "If you want a quality education system, you've got to have high-quality teachers and high-quality school leaders. "We know this view is supported by data from the best education systems around the world. "At the heart of my vision for education in Tasmania is investing more into inspiring and supporting our teachers and those who lead them. "On World Teachers Day, I thank all of our teachers in Government, Catholic and Independent Schools for their wonderful contribution to Tasmanian education."
