TCCI Project Funding Update Sat 12 May 2012 David O'Byrne Minister for Economic Development The Minister for Economic Development, David O'Byrne, today said he's been in regular contact with the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's new Chief Executive Officer, Neil McKinnon, regarding the group's current financial position. "Earlier this week, I requested and received assurances from the TCCI about the status of funding it has received from Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts (DEDTA) to deliver various Government programs," Mr O'Byrne said. "Mr McKinnon has now advised the Government that new information has arisen, which necessitates further investigation. "DEDTA is seeking confirmation that the TCCI has spent these funds in accordance with the grant deed and associated documentation. "DEDTA has also written to the TCCI, revoking its approval to access any further funding, until these matters are satisfactorily resolved. "While the matter remains under investigation by the TCCI, it would be inappropriate to comment or speculate further. "The Government appreciates that Mr McKinnon is working diligently and transparently to investigate these issues," he said.
