Tasmanian Polytechnic showcases National ICT Careers Week

The Minister for Education and Skills, Nick McKim, said today that the Tasmanian Polytechnic will be showcasing a range of activities for the National ICT Careers Week starting today.

Mr McKim said the aim of National ICT Careers Week is to encourage young people to study and work in information and communications technology. 

"If Tasmanians are interested in emerging and new technologies now is a good time to start their ICT career.

"In the south, the Tasmanian Polytechnic is offering ICT themed events which include:

·        a Student project showcase

·        an Australian Computer Society  guest speaker

·        access to the Student IT Support Centre

·        presentations by a range of Industry guest speakers

 "In the north-west, the Devonport Campus will be demonstrating IT networking and the Burnie Campus will be focussing on showcasing the flexible delivery of IT networking.

"Tasmanians contemplating ICT skill development can be part of a growing and evolving industry that provides a variety of work opportunities including networking, web design, database support, sales and help/service desk support."
