The Minister for Education and Skills, Nick McKim, today congratulated Rosny College student Asta Binnie for winning the 2012 Triple J Unearthed High competition.

Mr McKim said that Asta, 18, beat more than 860 entries from around the nation to win the prestigious contest with her song My Heart Is On Fire.

"This is a wonderful achievement for Asta, who is on track to release her debut EP in the coming months," Mr McKim said.

"All our Government colleges are well known for their outstanding creative arts programs, including Rosny College, which will host a special concert as part of Asta's prize. 

"This is fantastic for Tasmania and shows the great wealth of talent we have in our Tasmanian Government schools and colleges."
