The Member for Denison, Scott Bacon, congratulated pet owners and animal lovers for their huge show of support for the RSPCA today as part of the annual Million Paws Walk in Tasmania.

Five locations in Tasmania - Hobart, Launceston, St Helens, Ulverstone and Smithton - hosted walks as part of the national event.

"The Million Paws Walk is a great way for the community to show its support for the RSPCA, and I congratulate everyone who took part in today's event," he said.

"The RSPCA is the public face of animal welfare in Tasmania, and its officers work tirelessly to investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect.

"The number of people who have taken part in this year's walk have shown they have such strong community support .

"It's great we can all play a part in helping the RSPCA operate its animal shelters, support its inspectorate services and provide community education on animal welfare issues, and I'm sure the funds raised today will help them in their efforts."
