New website to help deliver careers in Hospitality Fri 12 October 2012 Scott Bacon Minister for Hospitality Download hi-res version A new website is expected to make it easier for jobseekers to find work within the hospitality sector. The Minister for Hospitality, Scott Bacon, today launched the Tasmanian Hospitality Industry Jobs Portal, which has been developed by the Tasmanian Hospitality Association (THA). "Promoting careers within hospitality is essential if we are to continue growing this vital part of our economy into the future," Mr Bacon said. "This website gives potential hospitality workers a one stop shop where they can find out what jobs are available, the skills they need, training opportunities that are available and potential career paths. "It's essentially everything someone looking for a career in hospitality will need, while at the same time making it easier for businesses to connect with potential employees." Mr Bacon said the portal had been developed through the Tasmanian Government's $100,000 funding package for the Hospitality industry, aimed at workforce development and building industry capability. "We know workforce development is important to building a vibrant and contemporary hospitality industry in Tasmania, and critical to the industry's long term sustainability," he said. "This jobs portal is a positive step towards addressing the challenges the hospitality industry is facing in recruiting staff, particularly in regional areas. "Our hospitality industry is not only an important part of the Tasmanian lifestyle, but it's a key contributor to our economy. "Through initiatives like this, the Hospitality Industry Strategic Plan and the creation of an industry scholarship fund, we are working in partnership with the sector to build a stronger industry into the future."
