The Tasmanian Government has released new resources aimed at helping local businesses secure State Government tenders.

The Minister for Finance, Scott Bacon, said the new resources formed part of the Government's ongoing commitment to supporting Tasmanian business.

"Last financial year, almost 90 per cent of open Government tenders where a Tasmanian business has competed were awarded to local businesses and we want to see continued success and greater opportunities for Tasmanian businesses in this area," he said.

"This new material is part of our push to continue to give local businesses a greater capability to compete for and win Government contracts."

Mr Bacon said the new procurement resources have been prepared by the Crown Solicitor, in conjunction with Treasury.

"These resources are aimed at streamlining the process to compete for and win government contracts, and relate to the supply of consultant services, general services and goods," he said.

"Together with the recently released guides for buying locally, these documents continue our ongoing efforts to make it simpler and easier for local businesses to compete for Tasmanian Government tenders," he said.

The resources have been distributed to all government agencies and published on the Purchasing website at http://www.purchasing.tas.gov.au/buyingforgovernment/whatsnew.jsp
