New Child Care Centre for Bicheno Fri 1 June 2012 Rebecca White Member for Lyons Download hi-res version Parents on the East Coast have improved access to child care facilities through the Little Penguins Early Learning Centre in Bicheno. Labor Member for Lyons, Rebecca White, today officially opened the facility, saying the Tasmanian Government had provided $650,000 to build the new centre, which is located within the grounds of Bicheno Primary School. "The Government appreciates the challenges communities can face in gaining service providers interested in operating in rural and remote areas," Ms White said. "That is why we have provided funding to build this wonderful new centre, which was completed and occupied in March this year. "Before and after school care is now readily available, and children in the centre are also able participate in activities at Bicheno Primary. "Access to quality child care is vital for parents, and it also has many benefits for children, such as providing a stimulating environment where children can learn through playing and increase their confidence. "I am also delighted to note the strong links between Little Penguins and the school, with children able to begin their learning at the centre and continue into their compulsory years of schooling on the same site. "I congratulate all those involved in the project, and I wish them every success for the future."
