Home grown artist Amali Ward will head the line-up of entertainment at the True Island Spirit community event this Sunday 24 March.

The event is a celebration of the community spirit shown during the 2013 bushfire season and will be held at Princes Wharf No. 1 Shed in Hobart, between 12pm and 3pm.

The Premier, Lara Giddings, said on-stage performances would include the Choir of High Hopes, the Pumpkin Heads, swing dancers and former Australian Idol contestant Amali Ward.

“There will also be a wide variety of kids’ activities, including face painting, magicians, stilt walkers, kinder gym and a fleet of emergency services vehicles on site for the kids to explore.”

North Melbourne Football Club players Max Warren and Tom Curran will also be hosting activities on the day.

“I’m delighted there will be such a variety of entertainment for the whole family,” Ms Giddings said.

“I urge community members to come along on Sunday and enjoy the quality entertainment and free BBQ kindly hosted by the Lions and Rotary Clubs.

“The community spirit shown during the 2013 bushfire season was inspirational, and this event is the Tasmanian Government’s opportunity to acknowledge that generosity and say a very heartfelt thank you,” she said.

Free parking will be provided on the day at the Regatta Grounds from 11am – 4pm.
