Liberals shameful response to energy reforms Fri 8 March 2013 Bryan Green Minister for Energy and Resources Deputy Premier Bryan Green today blasted Liberal energy spokesman Matthew Groom's response to the implementation of electricity reforms as completely false and misleading. "The claims by Mr Groom are wrong," Mr Green said. "If this is the level of his understanding of the energy reforms that his party supported in the Parliament then he should immediately resign. "Mr Groom has spent all day and the best he could come up with is a four paragraph press release of absolute drivel. "If Mr Groom has any better ideas then he should issue another press release right now and tell everyone what they are. "Mr Groom should be seriously embarrassed by the strong endorsement of the implementation process by groups like the Energy Retailers Association of Australia and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry . "Mr Groom thinks he knows better than all the experts which is a frightening prospect for all Tasmanians. "The Liberals have stooped to an all time low in their attempts to play politics and deliberately mislead Tasmanians. "The reality is that I have released a Position Paper today which clearly sets out all the detail of how the Government proposed to roll out competition. "The fact is that extensive consultation has been undertaken with retailers and the highest consideration has been given to what is in the best interests of Tasmanian electricity customers. This has been released for public consultation and is available for anyone to access on the Government's electricity reform website at www.electricity.tas.gov.au.
