Liberals exploit Forestry Tasmania workers Wed 26 September 2012 Bryan Green Minister for Energy and Resources Deputy Premier Bryan Green today condemned the State Liberals for exploiting Forestry Tasmania workers for their own political gain. Mr Green said Forestry Tasmania workers had been duped into believing the Liberals were genuinely concerned about the viability of the Government Business Enterprise. "After announcing with fanfare over the weekend they would make Forestry Tasmania their number one focus in Parliament they abandoned workers when a better political opportunity loomed with Gunns going into administration. Mr Green said the Liberals gave up the opportunity to debate the issue because they felt they could get more media coverage out of Gunns' demise. "Not only have they used Forestry Tasmania workers this week they have exploited the pain being felt by those affected by the decision to place Gunns in administration. "This is yet another political headline grabbing exercise by the Liberals. Mr Green said the Government remained committed to supporting Forestry Tasmania as a standalone corporate entity responsible for commercial wood production. "We confirmed this by making provision in this year's budget of $110 million to assist the business should it be required during these difficult trading conditions which the Liberals refused to support. "Despite all their promises the Liberals have let Forestry Tasmania workers down," Mr Green said.
