A new program is aimed at encouraging young people to learn more about the wonders of the underground world at Hastings Cave and Thermal Springs.

The Minister for Environment, Parks and Heritage, Brian Wightman said the program includes a booklet of activities that can help people learn more about the caves.

"We want to engage younger visitors by telling the story of the cave in a way that's fun and provided learning opportunities," he said.

"This booklet encourages young people to learn about how caves are formed and explains their unique formations as well as how to safely enjoy caves and the fascinating creatures that inhabit caves."

Dover District School Grade three and four students were among the first to experience the Junior Caver program, with a guided cave tour and a copy of the Junior Caver booklet.
