"Tasmanian businesses already have a high success rate when competing for government contracts but these resources include helpful tips and information that will further assist local tenderers." "Red Jelly is an example of a highly professional local business that consistently demonstrates itself to be a cut above the interstate competition when it comes to tendering for government contracts. "Red Jelly recently won a Department of Education to develop a strategy to raise community awareness of the benefits of improving adult literacy skills and how and where to access support services." The new procurement resources have been prepared by Treasury and consist of: - Buy Locally - A Guide for Tasmanian Agencies; - Buy Locally - A Guide for Tasmanian Businesses; - Selling to government agencies - where do you begin? - Tasmanian Government Tenders Online - how can it benefit you? Ms Giddings said supporting Tasmanian businesses was a key part of the Economic Development Plan and Small Business Strategy. "In a tight economic environment, it is important that we do all we can to help Tasmanian businesses flourish. "Economic Development has recently been hosting statewide workshops designed to help small businesses apply for public tenders. The resources released today are another valuable education tool. "These initiatives complement the Small Business Strategy which focusses on skilling businesses for growth, and reducing the compliance burden." The resources have been distributed to all government agencies and published on the purchasing website www.purchasing.tas.gov.au
