Ben Lomond Road to Open Fri 24 August 2012 Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment Parks and Wildlife Service The Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) advises that the rock hazard on Jacobs Ladder has been stabilised. PWS Northern Region Manager Chris Colley said that PWS and contractors had worked in very difficult conditions to install a steel cable in order to support the leaning rock. "Our priority has at all times been to stabilise the rock as soon as possible so that the road can be safely re-opened for public access," Mr Colley said. "To have achieved this within 24 hours given the conditions on the mountain is a real credit to the contractors and PWS staff." Mr Colley thanked the Ben Lomond businesses and interest groups for their patience and support. The road will be opened tomorrow, Saturday 25 August, following completion of snow clearing works. It is expected that access will be available through to the Ben Lomond village by mid morning. Visitors are requested to be attentive to signage and road conditions. All vehicles must carry snow chains.
