Premier, Lara Giddings, used her address to the National Press Club to detail the action Tasmania is taking to tackle current challenges and become one of the most exciting and vibrant small economies in the world.

The National Press Club of Australia is the most recognised vehicle to key influencers and decision makers in the country.

The speech, entitled “Tasmania: Island of Change”, focusses on the rapid economic and cultural transformation currently underway in the State.

Key topics included:

• Tasmania's place in the Asian Century;
• The opportunities created by investment in irrigation, including in the wine and dairy industries
• Harnessing the state's renewable energy advantage
• Tasmania leading the way on cooperative politics and progressive law reform
• Using the NBN to bring the world closer to Tasmania and to take Tasmania to the world
• The cultural renaissance led by the Museum of Old and New Art and major festivals.
