2019-20 Budget: Investing in business growth

Tasmania’s small businesses are the powerhouse of our economy and are key drivers of jobs and investment growth.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is further strengthening our focus on small businesses through the launch of the new Tasmanian Business Growth Strategy 2019-2023.

The Government is maintaining the momentum already made, while investing in growing our small business sector with a $1 million package to rollout workshops and regional summits to back the 37,300 small businesses that want to grow and expand.

This includes the development of new financial literacy and marketing programs and online resources; and the continuation of small business forums in partnership with local government with a focus on regional business needs; and workshops to educate businesses on winning government business.

These programs and services will enable businesses to grow and increase productivity, while the Strategy will foster a policy environment that is more supportive of business growth.

Tasmanian businesses are the most resilient in Australia, and we have the highest business survival rate, our Strategy will continue the current momentum as we invest in the continued growth of our important business sector.
