2019-20 Budget: Additional Funding for Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania
Tasmania’s Neighbourhood Houses are the heart of our local communities, and the Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to supporting the network into the future.
In recognition of the dedicated work of Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania, the 2019-20 State Budget will provide for an additional $45,000 per annum to the peak group, to ensure they can continue to deliver assistance and support across the network.
There are a total of 35 Neighbourhood Houses across Tasmania, and the work these houses provide is in large part thanks to the assistance of the many volunteers who give their time.
Funding will ensure that Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania remains a central part of communities across Tasmania, and can provide the training and support neighbourhood houses require to deliver important services to Tasmanians in need.
This funding is in addition to our commitment in last year’s Budget to boosting funding to the Houses by $8.8 million over four years.
