STATEWIDE INITIATIVES

After two years of a Hodgman Liberal Government the Budget and Tasmania are Back on Track.

We promised to fix the Budget mess so we could afford to reinvest in essential services – and that is what we are doing, while still focusing on job creation.

Bass residents will beneft from a range of initiatives which will improve the health of Tasmanians, lift education standards and support our most vulnerable.

JOBS AND THE ECONOMY

  • Grant for building a first home doubled to $20,000
  • Business and Jobs Attraction Program - $5.4 million*
  • 100 new Metro buses - $18 million
  • Community Infrastructure Fund – $13.9 million
  • Supporting Small Businesses and Training - $1.9 million
  • Irrigation projects - $90 million^
  • Roads and Bridge Infrastructure investment - $656.3 million^
  • New Tourism funding – $8.8 million
  • Priority Parks and Recreational Infrastructure - $5.7 million*
  • Geoscience data initiative to support mining - $1.4 million 

HEALTH

  • Frontline health infrastructure - more than $515 million*
  • Extra $50 million for frontline health services including:
    • Rethink Mental Health plan - $3 million
    • Patients First - improved emergency department care - $5.4 million
  • Patient transport investment - $26.6 million* 

EDUCATION

  • State Schools and TasTAFE infrastructure projects - $113 million*
  • Students First (Gonski) funding - $134 million over six years
  • Funding to benefit students with disabilities - $12 million 

PROTECTING THE VULNERABLE

  • Redesign of Child Protection System - $20 million
  • Affordable Housing Strategy and Action Plan - $60 million
  • Record funding this year for Community Sector Organisations - $260 million
  • Tasmania’s Family Violence Action Plan - $22 million*
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme - $572 million
